Player of the Week

Kurtis Kiyoshi "Kurt" Suzuki plays catcher for the Nationals. He played for the Oakland Athletics before being traded to the Nationals for minor league catcher David Freitas. His MLB debut happened June 12th, 2007 for the A's. Suzuki was drafted in 2004 and was a second round pick. His batting average was pretty high for a catcher, .297, and only made one error in 46 games while being in the minor leagues.
It wasn't until catcher, Jason Kendall, was traded before Suzuki was the starting catcher for the A's. On September 10th, 2007, Suzuki hit his first major league grand-slam against the Seattle Mariners during the second inning. In 2008, Suzuki hit an average of .279.
During the 2009 season, Suzuki hit his career high of home-runs, 15, and RBIs, 88. He also lead his team in RBIs, which was the second time in franchise history that a catcher lead the team. Suzuki also lead the A's in hits and doubles. Suzuki ended the 2012 season with a batting average of .255 with 62 home-runs. Both with the Oakland Athletics and the Washington Nationals.

Player of the Month

Rogearvin Argelo "Roger" Bernadina is one of the National's outfielders. He normally plays center field and he is mainly known for his ability to track down balls in a "shark" way, hence where his nickname "the shark" came from. He was called up to the majors June 28th, 2008.
After being sent back down to the minors, he later was called back up to the majors April 15th, 2009 but he didn't make his first start until the 18th.
On the 12th of May in 2010, he hit his first home-runs against the New York Mets. He has stolen a total of 53 bases and has batted in 101 RBIs. He also has a total of 23 home-runs and a batting average of .252 through 2012.
On August 8th, 2012, Bernadina made a game saving catch during the 12th inning against the Houston Astros. This catch wasn't your ordinary catch. It involved a pole and the bullpen in center field when a ball was hit to him by first baseman, Brett Wallace.
This spectacular catch caused him to plummet next to the pole where he had chased down the ball in a "shark" like manor. He had made the game saving catch that would've been a straight up triple and the game winner for the first baseman. Craig Stammen was one of the only players who really had a good view of the catch. Resulting him to jump up and down when he saw that Bernadina had caught it. Here's some words that Stammen shared with the media,"He caught it. I was like, 'Is he dead or alive?' "

Letter to Michael Morse

Dear Beast,
I will miss you a lot! I always loved how hilarious you were on and off the field. I will never forget the time when you hit that phantom grand slam against the Cardinals. That was one of the strangest moments I've seen in a while. I will also miss singing "Take On Me" after the seventh inning stretch and attempting to hit that high note.
You have always been one of my favorite players and I hope that you have a fantastic time in Seattle. I would also like to thank you for everything that you've done to the Nationals. Whether it's offence or defence, you always were there to help out your teammates. I wish the best of luck to you in Seattle and I will miss you beast!

                                     Your awesome fan,
                                            Alexandra

About My Blog

Welcome to my blog. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.

Every week, I will post stuff about the Nationals. Whether it's off-season moves or regular season games. Here's an overview on what I will post.

  • Player of the Month: I will choose a player based on their highlight reel during that month.
  • Spotlight Plays: These will be based off of the different plays each player makes.
  • Player Overview: I will give stats or any information about a random player.
  • Game Previews: I will give game previews before every game.
  • Off-Season Moves: These will include just about every move the Nationals made during the off-season.
  • Game Overviews: I will give any information that happened during the game.
  • Player of the Week: I will choose a player to write about after a series during that week.

Let me tell you about myself. I am a huge fan of the Nationals, if you didn't notice, and I will watch just about any baseball game on. I wanted to write about the Nationals because I wanted to create a blog about something, so I decided why not my favorite baseball team? But I thought you were writing about Bryce Harper 24/7. Since you were wondering, no I will not write about Bryce Harper 24/7. I will only write about him if he's the player of the month, player of the week, I wrote about him in the player overview or he made an awesome highlight that was newsworthy. Once again, thanks for reading my blog and I hope you enjoy.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact me at Natsfan55@gmail.com. I also will try to get player interviews via Twitter, but as we all know, that will be hard. So if you happen to get lucky and actually interview a player, don't hesitate and shoot me an email with your name so I can cite it from you.
