Rogearvin Argelo "Roger" Bernadina is one of the National's outfielders. He normally plays center field and he is mainly known for his ability to track down balls in a "shark" way, hence where his nickname "the shark" came from. He was called up to the majors June 28th, 2008.
After being sent back down to the minors, he later was called back up to the majors April 15th, 2009 but he didn't make his first start until the 18th.
On the 12th of May in 2010, he hit his first home-runs against the New York Mets. He has stolen a total of 53 bases and has batted in 101 RBIs. He also has a total of 23 home-runs and a batting average of .252 through 2012.
On August 8th, 2012, Bernadina made a game saving catch during the 12th inning against the Houston Astros. This catch wasn't your ordinary catch. It involved a pole and the bullpen in center field when a ball was hit to him by first baseman, Brett Wallace.
This spectacular catch caused him to plummet next to the pole where he had chased down the ball in a "shark" like manor. He had made the game saving catch that would've been a straight up triple and the game winner for the first baseman. Craig Stammen was one of the only players who really had a good view of the catch. Resulting him to jump up and down when he saw that Bernadina had caught it. Here's some words that Stammen shared with the media,"He caught it. I was like, 'Is he dead or alive?' "
